My favorite thing about visiting Grandma with my Dad was that she would always welcome us with a batch of chocolate rice crispy goodness. My Dad, who rarely indulges in sweets, could not resist. Grandma had a way in to our stomachs and our hearts!

What a lovely memory Tiffany. We call that Special K goodness, “Christmas bars” in our family. I only make them at Christmas.

On our birthdays, mom would bake a two layer cake and put coins in the center and miraculously the birthday person received a quarter while others received a dime, a nickel or penny. We would eat the whole cake just to get the money.

One Christmas mom placed the presents under the tree with no name tags. When we asked how she was going to know who the presents belonged to she responded with “you’ll have to wait until Christmas morning”. We learned later that the present were colored coded ribbons to prevent snoopers (PAULA) from getting a head start.
